The "Apple Strudel" Oatmeal: A Cozy Breakfast for the Whole Family

If you’re looking for a breakfast that feels like a hug in a bowl, look no further. This "Apple Strudel" Oatmeal has quickly become a household favorite. I made it for myself yesterday, and it was so good that I had to make it for my family this morning. Safe to say, they loved it too!

The secret to this recipe is lightly sautéing the apples first. This makes them soft and releases all those delicious natural juices, giving the oats a rich, dessert-like flavor without the guilt.

Look at that creamy texture! It smells just like a fresh apple strudel.

Ingredients (For 1 person)

50–60g Oat flakes

1 Apple (finely diced)

250ml Milk or water

1 tsp Cinnamon

Maple syrup or honey (to taste)

Toppings (optional): Chopped walnuts, fresh strawberries or other topping of your choice

Instructions

1) Sauté the Apple: Place the diced apple into a small pot. Add a tiny splash of water and sauté over low heat until the apple softens and releases its juices.

2) Add the Base: Stir in the oat flakes and cinnamon. Pour in the milk or water.

3) Simmer: Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the oatmeal reaches your desired creamy consistency.

4) The Finishing Touch: Pour into a bowl and sweeten with a bit of maple syrup or honey if you like.

The Game Changers: Strawberries & Walnuts

While the base is delicious on its own, we decided to level it up. We topped our bowls with chopped walnuts for a satisfying crunch and fresh strawberries for a bright, sweet contrast to the warm cinnamon.

Nothing beats the pop of color and sweetness from fresh strawberries!

This recipe is simple, healthy, and tastes just like a warm apple strudel. It’s the perfect way to bring the family together in the morning. Give it a try, and let me know how you like it!
